Department of

Malayalam

The Malayalam department was started in 2017 at Fathima Arts and Science College with the aim of developing mother tongue skills and literary creativity. Training is being provided for many career opportunities, such as teaching, content writing, translation, and the media field. Many extracurricular activities are also being conducted as part of the course. In the first batch itself, it was possible to pass all the students with good marks, and later on, it was possible to ensure a success rate of not less than 90 percent. The Malayalam department has been able to send many of them to other university colleges like Kerala and Calicut for postgraduate degrees. Under the guidance of five experienced teachers, the Malayalam department emphasized extracurricular projects along with the curricular programs. For this, daily celebrations and competitions to nurture creative arts were organized, and workshops and seminars were also organized. The Kalpitha University organizes the Cheruthuruthy Kalamandala Yatra every year to learn and enjoy classic art forms. Along with this, short trips are also organized to the memorial halls of famous writers. To learn more about folk art, Kalampattu workshops and Nadanpattu are conducted under the Malayalam department. A language club named ‘Samanvaya’ is also functioning for the development of creativity and language skills.
