The Department of Psychology at Fathima Arts and Science College, Moothedam, was established in 2020 and recognized by Calicut University. The department is committed to academic excellence, professional development, and holistic learning. With a dynamic and student-centered approach, the department offers both three-year and four-year undergraduate programs, providing students with a strong foundation in psychological theories, research methodologies, and applied practices. Currently, the department serves 54 students and is guided by a team of four dedicated faculty members, each specializing in diverse areas of psychology to ensure a well-rounded educational experience.
Our curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, fostering a deep understanding of human behavior, cognition, and emotional well-being. Through interactive classroom learning, hands-on practical training, and field-based experiences, students gain essential skills in psychological assessment, counselling, intervention strategies, and research analysis. The department also emphasizes experiential learning by offering expert-led seminars, specialized certificate courses, hands-on workshops, and immersive internship opportunities, preparing students for real-world challenges in the field of psychology.

One of our most exciting initiatives is a week-long Psychology Fest, featuring engaging seminars, psychology-based shows, interactive games, and thought- provoking discussions. This fest brings psychology to life, allowing students and the community to explore the fascinating aspects of human behavior in a fun and immersive way. Beyond the fest, we actively promote mental health awareness. We recently conducted exam anxiety awareness programs in schools across Nilambur, helping students manage stress and build confidence. We also celebrate key mental health days, organize outreach programs, and engage in research-driven projects to make a lasting impact. We empower students to become skilled professionals and responsible changemakers through education, advocacy, and hands-on learning. exposure to psychological assessments, research, and hands-on learning. The lab
serves as a dynamic space where students engage in experiments, case studies,
and theoretical applications, fostering a deeper understanding of psychology.
The lab houses a wide range of psychological questionnaires and testing
equipment, enabling students to conduct assessments related to intelligence,
personality, cognition, aptitude, and mental health. These tools help bridge the
gap between theory and practice, allowing students to develop strong analytical
and evaluation skills.
