Fathima Arts and Science College Moothedam, established in the year 2013, stands as a distinguished institution of higher education, affiliated with the University of Calicut. Nestled in the serene and picturesque rural village of Moothedam, in Nilambur. The college is uniquely located at the foothills of the majestic Western Ghats, near the verdant expanse of the Mukurthy National Park in the Nilgiris. The tranquil surroundings and natural beauty of the region provide an ideal atmosphere for academic pursuit and holistic development.

The college was founded by the Corporate Educational Agency of the Catholic Diocese of Bathery, with the noble vision of extending quality higher education to the marginalized and underprivileged communities, particularly those residing in remote and rural parts of the Malappuram, Palghat, and Kozhikode districts of Kerala and the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. From its very inception, the college has remained steadfast in its mission to promote value-based education.

The visionary behind the foundation of this noble institution is His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas, the Bishop of Bathery, who serves as the founder, patron, and manager of the college. His unwavering commitment and farsighted leadership have been the guiding light in shaping the college into a center of academic excellence and moral integrity. The early growth and establishment of the college were made possible through the dedicated efforts of several visionary individuals.

The official inauguration of Fathima Arts and Science College was held on October 4, 2013, a momentous occasion graced by the presence of His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, Catholicos, of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church, whose blessing and message marked a promising beginning for the institution. Rev.Fr.Dr. Shibin P. James, serving as the principal, leads the institution with a clear vision rooted in academic excellence and holistic development. Rev.Fr. Abraham Pathackal George, the CEO and chief bursar, has significantly contributed to the physical and administrative advancement of the college. Guided by the mission and motto of the college, their dedicated leadership has had a profound and lasting impact on the college's growth. Their invaluable contributions are deeply appreciated and remain foundational to the institution’s enduring legacy.

Since then, the college has steadily progressed, expanding its academic horizons while remaining committed to holistic student development. Today, it offers 14 undergraduate programs in arts and science disciplines, along with two postgraduate programs—an M.A. in English Language and Literature and an M.Com in Finance—catering to the diverse educational aspirations of students. In its ongoing journey, the college continues to uphold excellence in academic standards and moral values, nurturing the intellectual, spiritual, social, aesthetic, and physical dimensions of every student.
