NIRF

NIRF

NIRF stands for the National Institutional Ranking Framework. It's a methodology used by the Indian government's Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) to rank higher education institutions in India. The framework assesses institutions based on various parameters like teaching, learning, research, graduation outcomes, and outreach and inclusivity. NIRF rankings help students, parents, and other stakeholders make informed decisions about higher education choices.

Parameters

The core parameters used to evaluate colleges are:

  • 1.Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR): This parameter assesses the quality of teaching, learning environment, and available resources.
  • 2.Research and Professional Practice (RP): This parameter evaluates the research output, collaborations, and professional practices of the institution.
  • 3.Graduation Outcomes (GO): This parameter assesses the academic performance of students, their success in placements, and further studies.
  • 4.Outreach and Inclusivity (OI): This parameter assesses the institution’s efforts towards social inclusion and outreach activities.
  • 5.Perception (PR): This parameter evaluates the perceived reputation and standing of the institution among stakeholders.

Objectives of NIRF

  • 1.Promote excellence in higher education institutions.
  • 2.Provide transparency and accountability in rankings.
  • 3.Help students and stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • 4.Encourage institutions to improve their performance across multiple parameters.
