Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) was established with the primary objective of enhancing the quality of education in India. In pursuit of this goal, NAAC has recommended the formation of an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in all Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) as a strategic initiative for sustained quality improvement.

NAAC supports Higher Education Institutions in achieving excellence through a focused three-step action plan:

  • Provision of Quality Education
  • Evaluation of Student Performance
  • Attainment of NAAC Accreditation

To effectively implement these objectives, the IQAC serves as a central mechanism for promoting and maintaining institutional quality standards.

What is IQAC?

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is an institutional framework designed to enhance both academic and administrative performance. It functions as a participatory and facilitative unit that works collaboratively with faculty and administrative staff to design, implement, and monitor strategies for continuous improvement.

IQAC plays a pivotal role in embedding a culture of quality by encouraging the adoption of best practices and fostering innovation in areas such as teaching, learning, research, and institutional governance.

Vision of IQAC

The core vision of IQAC is to drive quality enhancement and assurance through the formulation and execution of a consistent and strategic plan aimed at the holistic development of the institution. The key focus areas include:

  • Ensuring efficient and timely execution of academic and administrative activities
  • Promoting excellence in academic research and program delivery
  • Encouraging innovative and cost-effective approaches to education
  • Integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to modernize teaching and learning processes
  • Establishing transparent and effective assessment and evaluation systems
  • Providing the necessary infrastructure and resources to support institutional goals

Composition of the IQAC

To ensure the above-mentioned functions are performed accurately, IQAC works by following the given hierarchy-

  • Head of the Educational Institution - Principal
  • Representatives from the Faculty Members
  • Management Authority
  • Senior Administrative Staff Members
  • Nominee from – Students, Local society, Alumni
  • Nominees from - Employers, Stakeholders, Industrialists
  • Senior Teacher Representing as the Coordinator or the Director of the IQAC
