Road Safety Awareness Programme

As part of Road Safety Month 2026, the NSS Unit of Fathima Arts and Science College, Moothedam, in association with the IQAC, SSP, and the Road Transport Department of Kerala, organised an Awareness Class on Road Safety at 2:30 PM in the Smart Room.

The session was led by Ms. Easter Yashica, AMVI, and Mr. Sajith S, AMVI, officials from the Motor Vehicles Department. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about road safety measures, traffic regulations, and responsible road usage. A total of 50 first-year NSS volunteers participated in the programme. The resource persons delivered an informative session covering essential aspects such as traffic rules and regulations, safe driving practices, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, adherence to speed limits, and observance of traffic signals. They also discussed the major causes of road accidents and highlighted the legal implications of traffic violations. Emphasis was laid on cultivating discipline, alertness, and responsibility among young road users.

The session was well-structured and interactive, enabling students to gain a clear understanding of the practical importance of road safety. The participants actively engaged in the discussion and clarified their doubts regarding traffic laws and safety norms. The programme was highly beneficial and effective in sensitising students to the importance of road safety and responsible citizenship. The awareness class successfully contributed to the objectives of Road Safety Month 2026 by promoting a culture of safety and accountability among the youth.
